Early on, Charles developed a connection to cannabis. However, in a society still grappling with understanding the substance, he soon found himself entangled in the legal system. Despite his past struggles and convictions, Charles saw an opportunity to bring about positive change within his community. Born and raised in Albany, New York, Charles had always been a firm believer in the power of education and community engagement.
But as the years progressed, so did his understanding of responsibility and purpose. He often reflected on a quote that he once heard, “It’s not the mistakes that define us, but how we rise after falling.” Embracing this philosophy, Charles began to view his experiences not as burdens, but as tools for transformation.
His vision extended beyond personal redemption. He saw a community in need of jobs, education, and of empowerment. Charles recognized cannabis not as a symbol of his past struggles, but as a potential catalyst for community change. The narrative needed to shift, not just for him, but for countless others who found themselves marginalized by society’s misconceptions.
As the founder of Hold Up Roll Up, his goals were multifold, but most importantly creating an atmosphere for community growth and education. A place where former stigmas could be dismantled through knowledge. Where jobs could be created, families supported, and young minds empowered to craft a different story for themselves.
